Blog Action Day – Let’s Unite

Today is Blog Action Day – a day when bloggers unite for spreading awareness about a particular issue. And today’s issue is about Poverty. Its a issue that’s common among all countries in the world and yet we still don’t understand the importance of it. In today’s world richer is getting richer and poor is becoming poorer. What have you done for it? Or Do you have any plans for doing something about it?

Well I would want to discuss here the root causes of poverty. What according to you are the root causes that promote poverty? Well according to me the following can be the major factors which contribute to poverty and worsen it too:

  1. Corruption – Rampant Corruption among high officials always beats the poor where it hurts them the most. They are denied of their basic rights due to the prevailing corruption. Whenever any tragedy strikes and thousands become homeless, people come forward to donate so much in cash and kind. But maybe not even 25% of it reaches the needy. Which leads them to live a life which can’t even be imagined. Due to this corruption only, rich is getting richer and poor is becoming poorer.
  2. Ignorance – Yes, ignoring the needs of people from lower strata of society helps in increasing poverty. When we fail to understand them and their needs and run away from our duty of helping the needy, its just adding to the already prevailing poverty. So stop ignoring.
  3. Lack of Education – Lack of education is a great factor. Many govts run many schemes of providing free basic education to everybody but still implementation has failed everytime.

These are some of the factors which according to me are the root causes of poverty. What according to you are the causes? And what do you plan to do regarding it?

  1. How you think when the economic crisis will end? I wish to make statistics of independent opinions!

  2. Corruption is a huge problem. Here in India we see crores of funds being allocated to help out people below poverty line – but most of it doesnt reach the people who needs it the most.

It’s nice to see so many blogs participating in Blog Action Day. This is the first time I am participating.

  3. I am so glad to see you participated in Blog Action Day! I too participated on my blog site. I believe you are correct in saying education is a huge reason for poverty. If we continue on our current path we will elimate the middle class. You will either be poor or rich!

  4. You just hit it right, as I believe these are really the main causes of poverty. I can testify to that as I myself have been there. I started working at the age of 10 in the busy streets of Manila, while living in a slum area.

However, I was just lucky enough to meet people who helped me to escape from severe poverty. Maybe because I also treat others as members of one big family, which I think the best solution against poverty.

I truly believe that MONEY can only help a bit, but all of us treat each other as brothers and sisters in their true meaning, then poverty can be cured.

    Thanks!
