For those people who miss important news from their wordpress dashboard, comes another upgrade from WordPress. WordPress has been upgraded to 2.6.3. This release is a pure security release and you may not even need to do the complete upgrade procedure here.
Just copy the following two files into your wp-includes folder in your wordpress installation:
And you will be upgraded to WordPress 2.6.3. This is probably the easiest upgrade ever. And for those who haven’t started using WordPress and need to get the latest version, here is the link.

How about the speed? I don’t really like upgrading my wordpress blogs coz sometimes with the new update and added features, it takes time to post.

Great. My WP blogs 2.5.x – 2.6.1 were attacked few times lately adding code to blogposts that iframed domains with spyware.
All is cleared now but it took few hours :(
Anymore security for WP is great.

I personally hate the fact that they keep on putting out new versions of WordPress because it means I have to keep updating it. How about they put out one really good version once every six months! Jeez its like Microsoft, they keep putting out a new OS but at least wordpress is free.

Great tips! I always find that updating the entire wordpress code is a pain. Thanks for breaking out the changes.

You got to me first with the upgrade notice. In the last 6 months these little upgrades have been like weekly laundry. I’m glad you simplified it to 2 files. The updates are not usually troublesome… it’s just their frequency that gets annoying. Cheers -
