I have seen many bloggers starting their own contests but hardly anybody takes participate in it. It happened at a contest at PureBlogging.com where there were only 10 entries despite the fact that contest was started way back in August. One should not just start contest and think that the purpose of contest (which can be either increasing your RSS subscriber count, increasing your blog’s traffic, increasing comments on your blog or any other objective) will be fulfilled by itself.

One should promote the contests aggresively so that more and more people come to know about it. There are many blogging contest blogs which list various blogging contests coming up. You should try to list your contest at maximum number of such blogs. Most blogs accept entries for free but if you want that extra edge spend some money to get your contests stand out from rest of them.

Here I list some sites which allow you to mention your blog’s contest on their blogs:

1. ContestBlogger - Submit your Entry Here - Price: Free/20$(Featured)
2. Blogging Contests on Net - Submit your Entry here - Price: Free/10$/20$(Featured)
3. My Blog Contest - Submit your Entry here - Price: Free/5$(Featured)
4. THE LINK BAIT - Submit your Entry here - Price: Free
5. Contest Blog Cat - Submit your Entry by mailing to contestcat [at] contestblogcat [dot] com - Price: Free

The above ones are proper contest blogs which have clearly defined links for submitting your contests. First three are must for every contest and highly recommended.

There are some others who have no defined criteria on how to submit your contest to them. Maybe they follow from blogosphere or you can try mailing them at their contact form. They are:

1. The Prize Blog - Contact Them - One of the most unique contest blogs. It also mention tips on how not to get duped by fake contests. It approves the contests personally as safe or unsafe and offers many features.
2. Reviewow - Contact Them
3. Blog Contest Site - No contact information. Got a email id from whois database which is googgal [at] gmail [dot] com. Not at All Recommended. Blog was last updated on 30 July 2007.

This was only one way to promote your blog contests. You should also promote your blog contests via posting at different forums, comment at other blogs related to your niche, telling your friends, word of mouth promotion and even advertising your contests at various sites.

Update: Found some more Blogging Contest Sites, gosh this niche is bigger than I thought.

1. ContestBeat - Seems they listened to me and now you can submit your entries here. Price: Free
2. DisRegardMe - Submit your Entry Here. Price: Free
3. Ryan’s Contest Blog - Seems the blog is more for contest hunters than contest starters. No Information about anything. Blog even misses a search button.
4. My Blog Contests - Not to be confused with My Blog Contest listed above. Both are different. Submit your Entry here. Price: Free
5. The Contest Winner - Most weird contest blog. Accepts only contests which require you to cut and paste some entry. Submit your Entry here. Price: Free
6. About Blog Contest - No Information Listed. Seems another contest blog for contest participators and not contest makers.

Update #2 3 new contest blogs found. All 3 of them contain no information about submission. On 2 of them, people are using comment form at about page to submit contests.

1. Link Right Contests - Again use their about page to submit contests
2. Captain Contest - Poor about page has missing comment form. So no way of submitting.
3. BlogContestCentral - Submit your Contests by mailing to contestant [at] blogcontestcentral [dot] com
