Sometimes some people are very desperate for review that they forget that a review will be beneficial only if they have the site ready. A site about webhosting reviews asked me to review their site and I was a bit surprised at seeing the review request. Well here it goes.
WebhostingBlueBook is a site intended to be a webhosting reviews site. It has all essential components which you may find at a webhosting review site but most of them are incomplete. It does have a directory, forum, blog, webmaster resources, wordpress themes, hosting glossary, ranking system explanation and even a newsletter.
I have just subscribed to newsletter and haven’t received anything so can’t comment. Ranking system does not explain much about top 10 rankings shown on the homepage. Hosting glossary is good and can be improved further with more words. Wordpress Themes can have a demo for each theme and a little bit of description to be more effective. There is a Tools and Articles page …. articles seems ok but I could not see any tools listed. Webmasters page lists to the affiliate programs of three webhosts - nothing substantial to talk of.
Now the directory sems empty with a link to another webhosting review site. Forum has only once category….needs to be immediately attended to. I could not find any webmaster resources on the site as advertised. Also design of site needs a uplift as default vbulletin theme is very common and nothing which a normal user would remember the second time he/she visits your site.
Conclusion
In short site needs a lot of improvement and can be seen as a potential webhosting reviews site if worked hard upon. Unless then it hardly provides any useful resources as advertised.
Final Improvements Suggested
- Design of site needs uplift.
- Forum needs relevant categories
- Title of pages need to be optimised and site be optimised for SEO in general
- More hosts need to be added to directory instead of linking to second such site
- Articles, Tools, Webmaster Resources and webmaster pages need relevant content
- Blog needs to be restored
- Ranking system of site need to be worked upon
Only when these steps are followed, then only this site can become successful.
There are so many websites offering web hosting review you wonder whats in it for them and if they are offering valid advice or just looking to make a quick buck. YaY for my run on sentence now to find an English blog

I think some websites are too eager to jump the gun and earn money that some very basic considerations are ignored, all in the name of expediency. Oh well.

I have learned my lessons over the years.. and that is this: DO NOT buy any web hosting if it is sold on eBay. Of from gooddealhosting for that matter. They easily just drop service, leaving you and all others f#$”ed up.

What is like on Webhostingbluebook is the fact that they are not only another TOP 10 web hosting reviews site but they provide additional stuff like forum. I am registered there and I was quite active some time ago but it seems this forum need a little more moderation because there is a lot of hosting companies spamming with their offers instead of providing quality information for the forum visitors.

I found most reviews to be poor. They usually end up listing their friends sites.

It is just like every other “top 10″ web hosting lists. Its not their friends sites, its the hosting companies with the highest paying affiliate programs that make the cut. No substance, the “review” is just a summary of background information and company-generated statements. Move along!
