Server speed and processing time are critical components for any successful company with an online presence. With the growing importance of e-commerce, businesses realize that the traditional days of dial-up internet are long gone. Even high-speed internet doesn’t do the job anymore for many businesses. There is now a growing shift among large organizations to move towards Managed Hosting in order to provide employees and clients with the internet access and processing speeds they require.
Managed hosting is a type of web hosting that utilizes a dedicated server. This means that the client user does not share their server with any other internet users. This allows users to have complete control of their operating system, hardware, programs and other important specifications. Large organizations utilize Managed hosting because the exclusivity of the server enables more programs and computers to run off their server.
Managed hosting is beneficial because it includes valuable Managed services that are not available to users of a shared server. For example, companies that use managed hosting can perform updates and patches to programs on multiple computers at the same time.
They also exert much more control over the programs and features their users have access to. This saves the company time and money while also increasing internet security and network speed. There are plenty of managed hosting providers out there so be sure to do your research before selecting one!

Make sure when you chose a manged Server you find a company with good solid techs and support. Make sure they pick up the phones when you call and not just drop you to an $7 an hour guy creating a ticket for you. I had to learn the hard way. Managed for some companies just means updates and patches they will charge you for anything else. My current servers are hosted with Server Intellect and worth every penny I pay. Pretty much anything I throw at them to fix they handle and I don’t get charged for it. Read the fine print on the “managed” section of the server contract or you will get stuck with paying for tech support. :woot:
These are some good points you bring up here. We are in the process of seeking out a new host and its a competitive market thats for sure.
Dedicated hosting is very good with respect to search engine optimization and bandwidth . But it is too costly. My company is looking forward to get a dedicated server.
What kind of price would you be looking at for a basic dedicated server option? Is it something that is becoming more affordable as an option for web hosting?
having your own apps make things a ton cheaper
Also with the price of dedicated servers dropping to what they are now, almost any company making any type of profit should have no problem paying for the managed dedicated server.
very informative thanks for the info

I think I would give prior to manage hosting for small scale business like mine. I wouldn’t give stress on price that much because if it gives me a Quality maintain hosting plan and security, I would choose it.

i think typically web hosting is better suited for smaller business – they just dont need the extra power of managed hosting. And most web solution providers also have the option of managed hosting.
The costs of providing the managed hosting service yourself are finally coming into line with the costs of managed hosting. I’ve teetered on the verge of getting rid of managed hosting and going with a physical server located at the office. It’s still a wee bit more expensive to do it that way, but the ultimate flexibility of having a physical box present might just well be worth it.
hey but won’t it be too expensive for small businesses like mine. I would love to have dedicated servers and but I just fear that it would be too much of cost to start off with. What you suggest?
If you can afford it, of course, dedicated server is the best deal. One can run whatever one wants, for example, Ruby on rails is not so easily managed in a shared hosting environment.
I didn’t realize that getting a dedicated server has the option of being managed. I might have to look into this more!
I think it is obviously true that using dedicated server is fastest and reliable.
Can Managed Hosting also allow more than ten thousand users loading the page at a same time and remain the speed?
I have a bad experience on it and I really don’t know how to ease the problem at all.
Great site.
my company plans to move towards managed hosting, and I’m in the supporting team
I second Desmond’s thoughts. This is the way to go.
Can’t stress the point of having your own apps enough! And these days, it has become a lot affordable too!
