Contest Blogs – where they are heading?

As you know I am a owner of contest blog myself, so this post wasn’t expected from me atleast.

But still what I recently in a contest has led me to write this and share my thoughts upon this. Check this first:

Enter Now is a contest blog and they started their contest with a bang. So obviously should have got some decent amount of entries. But what I saw was a bit surprising. Out of 17 participants so far, only 2 are normal blogs. Rest 15 are contest blogs themselves. Yes, this is the fact.

So why Contest Blogs started?

Well according to me, main motive of a contest blog should be to tell users about latest and upcoming contests so that users get more chances of winning and having fun in blogosphere. Simultaneously contest holders should get additional traffic and greater response.

So?

What I mean to say is if all contest blogs themselves participate in all contests, little chance will be left for genuine blogger. If the owner of a contest blog have a other blog, he should participate via another blog nor use the contest blog for entering. Please forgive me as linkbait is itself entering into contests. Seems laziness in posting contests at 2 sides but for last few days mostly were just notifiers not entries. Well I can make some exceptions like Contest Blogger which has taken the pledge to return everything back to community whatever they win.

Your opinion?

I want to hear your response. Recently contest blogs niche has expanded greatly and will continue to grow. Do you think contest blogs should enter themselves in each contest as well? Or contest blogs should only act as notifiers of upcoming contests?

I may decide to mark each contest in future on linkbait as my entry or just notifier. Good Idea?

Oh, and of course, one more point. If contest blogs hadn’t entered my contest, NO ONE would have! I would have given away a prize for, basically, nothing! No linkbacks, no comments, no blogrolls! That would have been a terrible outcome. So THANK YOU to contest blogs for spreading the word and making my contest (and others) more worthwhile :)

I absolutely think contest blogs should be allowed to enter :)

I started a “contest blog” because I didn’t want to clutter up my “real” blog with constant contest entries. There are SOOOO many contests out there that a “normal” blog would have nothing but contest post in it! :)

Secondly, a blog contest is used to spread the word about a site via word of mouth and some link action. Both of which they get from contest blogs, so the purpose is served no matter who enters :)

And finally, contest bloggers ARE “real” bloggers! (Most of us, anyway( L(

Well, I think contest Blog should enter, if they want.
To be honest, I’ve started my blog mainly to try to win something (for me) and then also to let other people known if there are contests they can easily enter.
And also to excercise and improve my english skills…
Maybe someday I’ll put some more ads, but at the moment I think my blog is too young and this isn’t the best way to get some money…

Good post. I don’t see anything wrong with entering yourself in the contests you post. Number one, odds are you aren’t going to win many of them anyway (I won an average of one contest every 6 weeks on Contest Blogger). Also, it’s not always up to you; a lot of times the only entry requirements are to link up to a contest, and you may get entered to win whether you like it or not.
